The Land Use Committee of the Sylvan Highlands Neighborhood Association (SHNA) is focused on a current proposal by Tandem Development to build 236 apartments immediately west of our neighborhood boundary. The development would affect not only Sylvan Highlands but also adjacent neighborhoods to the north and west, including Raeburn Estates, Sunlight Cohousing Community, and others. We anticipate impacts on transportation and safety as vehicles utilize already congested roads and intersections. Beyond traffic, concerns include increased crime risk, harm to environmentally sensitive areas and the watershed, and obstruction of the existing view corridor by the two proposed five-story complexes.
