THANK YOU NEIGHBORS for a Great SOLVE Spring Cleanup & Shred Event!

We had another great turnout for a successful trash and graffiti removal. Probably 50-60 people were there, including a Cub Scout Troop + parents, and a high school group from Oregon Episcopal School.

The weather cooperated mostly, and the sun was out by the time the event was over. We cleaned the entrance to the neighborhood, the pedestrian and bike pathways, Canyon Court in either direction, the south side of Scholl’s Ferry, bus stops, and the median on the south side of Sylvan. We removed trash from the business parking lots, too. Graffiti removal was part of the project; the high school students are proud of their graffiti removal off the retaining wall on the east side of Canyon Court.

Afterward, we had a pizza party with a partial donation from Pizza Schmizza on Barnes Road. Our commercial support also included The Plaid Pantry, which contributed gift certificates for water and prizes for the volunteers. And, of course, no trash pickup is possible without a dumpster to catch the waste. Thank you for Waste Management’s contribution of a 6-yard dumpster. Our corporate partners came through for us!

We concluded the event with a fire engine tour at Fire Station 16. Everyone left happy and satisfied that they had helped beautify this little part of Portland.
