On Saturday, April 11th, 33 neighbors from Sylvan-Highlands came together for a community cleanup—and made a big impact in just a few hours.

Team One focused on the Skyline corridor, working from Plaid Pantry, by the school, and all the way down to Canyon Court. Along the route, volunteers collected bags of litter—and even tackled the less glamorous task of removing dog waste. Their efforts helped make a heavily traveled stretch cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

Team Two tackled the business area around Chevron and Starbucks, continuing through the business park and down Canyon Court to the east. From there, the group split—half continued picking up trash, while the other half took on overgrown blackberry bushes and weeds that had started to cover the sidewalk.

Team Three headed over the overpass and down Scholls Ferry Road, targeting another area known for heavy trash. Their work helped clean up a stretch that sees a lot of daily traffic but often gets overlooked.
Team Four focused on beautification at the overpass median. They amended the soil with a fresh layer of manure, tilled it in, and planted more than 20 new plants—including delphinium and asters—bringing new life and color to the space.

And most importantly—thank you to everyone who showed up. It’s moments like these that reflect what makes Sylvan-Highlands such a special place to live: neighbors looking out for one another and taking pride in the community we share.
