The Planning and Transportation Committee reviews and considers development proposals, permits and zoning ordinances, increasing public awareness of our environment and neighborhood. Another committee goal is to organize efforts in dealing with transportation issues such as traffic, public transportation, pedestrians and cyclists, and to find educational tools and programs to help our roads stay safe.

Examples: include SHNA land use positions, appeals and letters of support, PSU transportation class, Skyline sidewalk project, traffic calming, accident documentation, etc.

Explore Washington Park

As 1 of 9 stakeholders and 11 directors on the EWP board, we work to ensure sensible management of transportation issues and responsible use of the parking meter revenue collected in Washington Park for the Parks benefit (like the free intra-Park shuttle). See Explore Washington Park for details.

Portland Comprehensive Plan

The City of Portland is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a long-range 20-year plan that sets the framework for the physical development of the city. Portland originally developed its Comprehensive Plan in 1980; periodic updates of the plan are mandated by the State of Oregon. The Comprehensive Plan Update will help to implement the Portland Plan, the City’s strategic plan for a prosperous, educated, healthy, equitable and resilient Portland. Get more information on the Portland Comprehensive Plan
